The Inter Emirates Across The UAE is an amazing place to visit the places to drive and explore in Dubai, with its gorgeous deserts and incredible cities. But there’s so much more than you can see in the city of Dubai. If you’re looking for a change of scenery (and some cooler weather), I’ve put together a list of my favourite places outside the city where you can drive around and explore!
Hatta
Hatta is the most popular and easily accessible mountain village in Dubai. It’s located at the base of the Hatta Mountains, which form part of the Hajar mountain range. If you want to avoid crowds and see beautiful scenery, Hatta will not disappoint!
Jebel Jais
Jebel Jais is a mountain in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the United Arab Emirates’ seven emirates. The mountain is unique in that it’s not just steep and rocky—it also has plenty of sandstone, so it looks like an outcropping from an Indiana Jones movie. According to some people who have climbed up Jebel Jais, there are many hiking trails on the mountain and its foothills; others say there aren’t any trails but that you’ll need proper climbing equipment. Regardless, you won’t find any endangered species in this part of Jebel Jais: The UAE doesn’t have any wildlife protection laws yet!
Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve
Located in the western region of the UAE, Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve is a protected area well-known for its biodiversity. It’s also a popular stop for both tourists and locals alike. The reserve features a variety of landscapes, including sandy beaches and rocky hillsides. In addition to its desert landscape, the reserve has a large mangrove forest that offers some of Dubai’s best birdwatching opportunities.
Sharjah’s Beaches – Kalba, Khor Fakkan, Khor Kalba and Al Khan
While Dubai is the most popular destination for driving in Sharjah, a few other beaches are also worth exploring. Some of these beaches can be found in Khor Kalba and Al Khan.
Khor Fakkan is a good place to go camping or spend the night at one of the many nearby campsites. Camping enthusiasts will enjoy this area as it offers quiet time away from busy cities like Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Khor Fakkan has its unique charm, making it an ideal location for those who want to spend some time away from civilization while still enjoying modern conveniences such as electricity and running water.
Dubai Marina Drive – The Palm Jumeirah and Back
One of the most popular places to go for a drive in Dubai is Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island. You can hire an Hourly driver for your comfort. The Palm has many luxury hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. You can take your car or bike around the island and see all the sights. If you have time, boat trips from Atlantis Hotel (which is included in this tour) are also available. If you want to swim in water that looks like an ocean but isn’t, head back to Palm Island, where there are plenty of pools for you to enjoy!
Al Qudra Lake
Suppose you’re looking for a place to cool off; head to Al Qudra Lake. A man-made lake located in Dubai, it’s also part of the Dubai Canal and connects with the Arabian Gulf. The lake has plenty of recreational facilities, including a water park, parks and picnic areas. This is one of our favourite spots because it’s popular with families and tourists!
It’s easy to get here: take the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard exit off Sheikh Zayed Road, heading east until you reach Al Qudra Road (exit 2A). Then follow the signs for “Al Muraqqabat.”

Hatta, about an hour’s drive from Dubai on the Oman border, is a great place for a drive. The scenery here is spectacular, and there are some quaint hotels and cafes if you want to stop for lunch or dinner. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum built the Hatta Fort in 1884 and now acts as a museum promoting Emirati heritage.
Another interesting place close by is Jebel Jais at Ras Al Khaimah; this mountain range offers panoramic views of the Hajar Mountains, the Arabian Gulf and across Abu Dhabi. You can also enjoy camel rides through beautiful desert landscapes where freshwater springs provide life for locals and visitors alike!
